OCCCSL Rules
-
Home Run rule – there will be no home run limit. However,
obstructions in the field of play less than 300’ from home plate should be
singles or doubles based on distance, not home runs. If both teams agree to
modify the grounds rules before the game, that is permissible, but the umpire
has the final say on ground rules.
-
Bases – not
to be secured. Use double first bases, if possible.
-
Courtesy runners
– use ASA rulebook (Rule 8 sect. 9C). Exception: We will allow each team to
provide a list of Players WHO WILL NEED
courtesy runners BEFORE the
game. Managers will need to include this list when lineups are exchanged.
The list must remain consistent throughout game, except for injury.
-
Illegal bats – Only SINGLE WALL BATS or Wooden Bats are
to be used - no multiple wall, titanium, or composite bats will be allowed in
OCCCSL play. Single wall aluminum alloy and wooden bats are permissible. ASA
stamp is not necessary. (Generally, if a bat costs under $100, it is legal.)
Penalty: Batter will be declared out and bat will be removed from the game.
If you are unsure if your bat is legal, it would be wise to ask before you use
it. See ASA Point Of Emphasis #4 (page 136 of 2006 rule book).
-
Rainouts – umpire is the judge of whether a field is fit for
play. Umpire must be present at field unless BOTH managers agree the field is
unfit for play.
-
Cleats – no
metal cleats.
-
Fines - All
League fines and payments are to be paid by the last day of the season,
scheduled to August 2nd, 2007 in order for your team to be eligible for the
Playoffs. If payments are not made within 5 days, your team will be
disqualified from the playoffs.
-
Game Balls - Each team will provide 1 game ball for each game -
2 total. If the hitting team loses one ball due to a foul, home run or other
event, they are to provide a replacement ball if the original ball cannot be
found.
-
Third foul - after 2 strikes will result in batter being
declared out.
-
Additional Bat Information
- Please Read info Below:
Effective
immediately, all bats listed on the non-approved bats list are not to be used in
OCCCSL games. If caught, the batter will be declared out (until June 1st). Any
repeat violation will result in a FORFEIT.
1.
Check to see if your bat is on the approved bats list. If so, the bat is OK to
use in OCCCSL games.
2. If not, check to see if the bat
is on the non-approved (banned) bats list. If so, DO NOT USE THE BAT IN OCCCSL
games.
3. If your bat is not on either list, you will need to get a ruling on the bat
and have it added to the appropriate list.
4. Please send me a list of any additional bats your team may have and I will
update the league lists.
Effective June 1, all bats NOT
listed on the approved bats list are not to be used in OCCCSL games.
THE PURPOSE OF
THIS RULE IS SAFETY, NOT LEGALISM. PLEASE BE PROACTIVE AND CHECK WITH THE
UMPIRES AND THE OTHER TEAM'S MANAGER BEFORE A
SITUATION PRESENTS ITSELF. PLEASE DO NOT TRY TO USE THE RULES TO GAIN AN
ADVANTAGE.
