OCCCSL Other Topics

1.      Missed umpire assignments – Teams are required to supply 2 umpires for 9/10 games during the season instead of having all the teams incur the cost of ASA umpires, which would more than triple the league fees for each team. Teams which do not honor their obligation to the league will be penalized as follows: 1st offense - $25; 2nd offense - $50; 3rd and all subsequent offenses will be penalized $50 plus the team will lose a victory and be charged with an extra loss. Fines must be paid before your first playoff game or you will forfeit the your spot in the playoffs. Non-playoff teams will not move up.

2.      Reporting of scores – while both teams should report scores in a timely fashion, it is ultimately the responsibility of the winning team to report the score. There will be no penalty at this time for not reporting scores, but please report them in a timely fashion.

3.      League payment – league fees are due on time. Any fees not paid in full by your first game shall result in a forfeit.

4.      Team rosters – team rosters will be submitted before your first game. Additions can be made up until June 30, at which time playoff rosters will be frozen. Players can be added after that date, but will not be eligible for playoffs. If an opponent challenges a player not on the roster, an illegal player will cause the team to forfeit the game. It is the responsibility of the manager to make sure his roster is submitted and updated. If no roster has been submitted, then any challenge to the roster will be upheld.  ASA Rules allow 20 players per team.  OCCCSL will allow 25 players per team.

5.      Suspended games – 5 innings must be completed (or 4 ½ if the home team has scored more runs) for the game to be an official game. If 5 or more innings have been completed, then a suspended game will resume from the point of the suspension. If the suspended game is not an official game, then the game will be started from the first inning.

6.      Schedule – one division, 18 games each team, play geographically closest teams twice. Begin play May 7. July 31 – end of season. August 14 – Championship game, best 2 out of 3.

7.      Roster balance – balance between church family and non-church players.

8.      Leave the field in better condition than you found it. This is especially for games that we play when the fields are wet. Rake out any footprints in the mud. Pick up all trash.

9.      Playoffs will consist of 8 teams.  The 4 top teams from each division will make the playoffs.
